Get Excited for Grocery Shopping: New Whole Foods Officially Coming to Town

If you’ve been following along with the Whole Foods saga, then you know that it’s been contentious. Gossip, setbacks, and tentative announcements—we’ve been wondering if the store would ever come to Jersey City.

But now, it’s official: Jersey City is getting a Whole Foods! The grocery store will go up right on the corner of Washington Street and Columbus Drive, just a few blocks from the banks of the Hudson—a different location than what was previously announced.

The storefront will cover an expansive 47,000 square feet. With its location near the waterfront, it’ll drive a lot of new foot traffic into the Paulus Hook area. In addition to the store, Whole Foods will also be adding a Northeast headquarters in the waterfront space of Harborside 3.

Right now, the space near Whole Foods’ future site includes a Five Guys (which will be moving to 101 Hudson Street) and the recently closed HopsScotch. It’s a relatively empty building in a busy area of the city!

Whole Foods does have a reputation for pricier items, but since being bought by Amazon, things have changed. In addition to lowering the regular prices, Amazon also offers special deals at the store for Amazon Prime members.
