When Hurricane Sandy hit our area in 2012, Port Liberte’s boat docks were ruined. But now, nearly four years later, the new boat docks will be ready for the 2016 boating season!
The Latest Developments in the Port Liberte Boat Docks Project
The Half Moon Isle dock project (Phase 1) is going well. New wooden docks, larger piles, and new electric and water services have been installed, and new gangways and a new platform will be installed closer to the end of the project.
Depending on when the new wave attenuator will be installed, the East Shearwater project (Phase 2) should start this summer.
Progress on the New Wave Attenuator
In November 2015, the Port Liberte HOA board submitted a permit for a new wave attenuator to the DEP. The review process takes a minimum of 3 months, and the board expects to receive a response soon.
In the meantime, bids have been reviewed for the attenuator and engineers have taken a look at the canal system. A design has been reviewed and approved, and once the HOA board receives approval from the DEP and all the permits are in place, work will begin on installing the new attenuator.
The HOA board is taking all the necessary steps to obtain the attenuator permit as quickly as possible.
Boating Season in Port Liberte
Port Liberte is a riverfront neighborhood and a boating community, and having access to boat docks (or having a home with a boat dock) is an important feature for residents.
The Port Liberte HOA rules and regulations require that boats should be shorter than the slip, so keep this in mind if you are considering buying a new boat. Every year dock owners must complete the “Dock/Boat Owner Registration” form if they have a boat entering the water.
